South face – Via Decima ****

This beautiful classic itinerary by now very popular is certainly one of the most beautiful climbs in the Dolomites, especially for the difficulties that are never too high and always very homogeneous. The climb overcomes a marked system of gullies and dihedrals with characteristic rock sometimes smoothed by the water, at times very gripping, rough and full of hourglasses. The water that for millennia has come down from the Scalet delle Masnade, sometimes violently and sometimes gently, has carved and shaped the rock, creating a beautiful, truly one-of-a-kind mountaineering route. Avoid the climb after heavy rains and in spring and be careful in the event of violent downpours, as a real waterfall pours onto the route. Also foresee that, given the great attendance of the itinerary, on certain "peak" days the crowding can cause some problems.

ACCESS
From Rif. Carestiato or Malga Framònt, follow the Alta Via path n. 1 until you reach under the Scalet delle Masenade wall near a flat grassy area. Following the obvious track, which goes up a small scree to the right, you reach the attacks of the climbs concerned (0.30 h).

A few tens of meters to the right of the colander line where the wall descends forming a sloping slab.

DESCENT
The descent from the Scalet face does not present particular difficulties. You reach a large grassy ledge placed on the top of the rocky wall and follow it (red marks) towards the west then, near the eastern wall of the Primo Torrione dei Cantòi, the path goes down (one pass. 2 °) reaching the base of the wall (0.40 h).

Parete sud – Colatoio Bonetti **

Logico itinerario che supera il colatoio più marcato della Pala delle Masenade con un tracciato molto lineare. La roccia è ottima e molto articolata ed i punti di assicurazione sono generalmente numerosi. La salita, che propone un’arrampicata bella e continua, non va però sottovalutata avendo qualche passaggio “da capire” e diversi tratti molto verticali. Tenere in considerazione inoltre che l’ascensione rimane a lungo bagnata dopo periodi piovosi e nella stagione primaverile è soggetta alle acque di fusione provenienti dalle cenge superiori. La via è parzialmente attrezzata, il colatoio offre comunque buoni punti di assicurazione.

ACCESS
From Rif. Carestiato following the Alta Via n. 1 towards Rif. Vazzolèr, in a few minutes you can reach the long scree that descends under the wall. Following the latter with difficulty, with an obvious trace, you can easily reach the base of the Pala delle Masenade. A large landslide that broke off from a forepart in the autumn of 2010 broke down the scree, inquire at the Carestiato Refuge on the feasibility of this access. Alternatively, go up the Ferrata Costantini then traversing with some difficulty at the base of the Pala delle Masenade (0.40 h).

Al centro del grande anfiteatro roccioso delle Masenade che forma un diedro grigio inclinato verso destra, in alternativa traversando sulla cengia bassa dalla Ferrata Costantini si può raggiungere la base del colatoio.

DESCENT
Raggiunta la larga cengia detritica superiore si traversa verso destra raggiungendo la Ferrata Costantini, che rapidamente riporta al Rif. Carestiato (1  h). In alternativa, con percorso più lungo, si può traversare sulla cengia verso sinistra e scendere per comode banche sulle rocce degli Scalet delle Masenade con traccia evidenziata da bolli rossi (2 h fino al Rif. Carestiato).
